Successful held seminar with subject "Furniture Related Regulatory Update for U.S. Market"
On March 19th, 2010 the Guangzhou LGA furniture testing laboratory held a seminar on the Chinese International Furniture Fair successfully. The spokesman highlighted the recent news for American furniture market.
German Mr Stephan Pesch introduced the latest news from CPSC and general trends in the US furniture market. Dr. Ricky Fung (Hong Kong) gave a detailed explanation about the Californian standard about Formaldehyde emission, known as CARB. Mr Joerg Swienty from Germany gave supplementary information about the new rules for the Lacey Act. Our local specialist for the US market Mr Jason Rao completed the seminar by highlighting again the Lead Paint requirement according to the CPSIA.
Altogether the seminar was very successful. All visitors have been happy to get detailed news and updates for the US furniture market. The possibility to talk to the spokesmen directly in the Q&A sessions was a very welcome opportunity for the LGA experts to share their knowledge. LGA is CPSC accredited lab for children furniture
LGA Furniture Testing Laboratory in Guangzhou, China took a next step to fulfill our client's growing demand for the American market. Under the CPSC identification Number 1237 for our laboratory we are now listed on the CPSC website, to perform tests according to 16 CFR Part 1501, 1508, 1509 and 1513. Therefore we can perform mandatory furniture testing according to CPSC regulations for Full Size and Non Full Size Baby Cribs as well as bunk beds. Besides us in China there is less than a handful of testing laboratories who can cover the full mandatory CPSC testing scope for children furniture. Furthermore we still provide you all possible services for furniture testing for European and American market and beyond.

2010 Seminar Furniture Related Regulatory Update for U.S. Market
The last but also the current year brought a lot of changes on the U.S. end consumer market. Besides a remarkable peak in the amount of recall actions for infant and children furniture in the end of 2009 / beginning of 2010 a lot of new regulations of materials and chemicals were put into force. Without maintaining those regulations it became almost impossible to export to the U.S. furniture market. Our LGA furniture laboratory Team would like to give you an introduction on March 19th, 2010 about the recent news and regulatory updates and welcomes you to our seminar at the 25th Chinese International Furniture Fair.

About 635,000 baby crib on recall
Last week CPSC announced a voluntary recall of baby cribs manufactured in China and Vietnam. With 635,000 baby cribs affected it is another action in a long series of recalls. More than 5 million baby cribs, bassinets and play yards have been recalled in the US since the beginning of 2007. In the recent case one dead infant was reported. Because the drop side hardware broke the infant became entrapped and strangled. Ten further injured infant were also reported.

For the United States the 16 CFR 1508 for full-size baby cribs and the 16 CFR 1509 for non-full-size baby cribs are in place.
